| CARE AND WASHING |
 |
 |
Our fabrics have a great
reputation for their colorfastness when cared for properly. A chemical bond has
occurred between fibers and dye molecules in the dyeing process, causing the
colors to retain their strength through time and washings. However, some
precautions should be taken to ensure that all unattached molecules have been
removed. We've run them through two hot washes in a Synthrapol bath, but
considering how saturated these fabrics are with color, it is entirely likely
that some of those floating molecules need an additional rinse. We encourage
you to prewash all of your Cherrywoods in a hot water wash with synthrapol,
no chlorine products, followed by a check for any color in the rinse water. A
second wash may be necessary. Two tablespoons of Synthrapol in the washload
will give the wash a boost as well as helping to keep those released dyes from
reattaching onto other fabrics. Use it with all of your cottons and rayons both
before and after you've sewn them up.

| CHERRYWOOD FABRIC TIPS |
 |
All Cherrywood fabrics and shirts have been through two hot washes so you won't have to worry about shrinkage. Don't forget to prewash all other fabrics to be sewn with Cherrywoods.
To make pressing easier, we recommend that our cottons and rayons be removed from the dryer and pressed when they are still slightly damp since they have no permanent press finish.
Since Rayon can be kind of slippery when cutting, we suggest using spray starch. Spray the rayon with an even coat of starch, then wait for it to soak in and dry before ironing.
We recommend using layer lightweight fusible interfacing or muslin in garments. It adds a little more body and enhances the suede look. Preshrink the interfacing by rinsing in hot water and hang to dry.
The safest way to check the fit of a new garment pattern is to sew a muslin version first and alter as necessary.
We love to receive photos of projects from our customers and to hear your comments. Send Mail. Found any great new products or patterns lately? Please share.
Don't Forget to bring your camera to our booth when you come to the show. Yes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Remember though - you should always shoot with permision in vendor areas.
Buy a Colorcard. It can be a great source of inspiration and invaluable when it's time to order.
