In March 2008, you are invited to take part in an online auction of quilts to raise money for ovarian cancer research and awareness. As many of you know, we lost our founder and friend, Dawn Hall, to this terrible disease in 2002. This project allowed us to gather and sew and remember Dawn as we made these quilts to donate to the auction.
The official color for the Ovarian Cancer Quilt Project is teal, and Karla dyed a 6-step teal gradation, Teal Memories, especially for this project. We encourage you to donate a teal block to the cause, or even a whole quilt.
The Ovarian Cancer Awareness Quilt Project at M. D. Anderson, Houston, TX, was established to educate the public about the risk factors and symptoms of ovarian cancer through the artistry of quilting.
The auction will raise funds for M. D. Anderson's Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program, which aims to develop effective screening methods and, ultimately, a cure for ovarian cancer through innovative research.
